Description
The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) is a public university in Mombasa, Kenya's main coastal city. It traces its roots to the Mombasa Institute of Muslim Education, founded in 1948, which later became Mombasa Polytechnic and then Mombasa Polytechnic University College before receiving its charter as a full technical university in 2013. TUM focuses on applied science, engineering and technology, offering certificate, diploma, degree and postgraduate programmes in engineering, built environment, applied and health sciences, computing and information technology, business, and humanities. It is especially known for marine engineering, maritime studies and other programmes linked to the coastal economy and the Port of Mombasa. The university combines classroom teaching with workshops, laboratories and industry attachment. Government-sponsored students join through KUCCPS and self-sponsored students apply directly. Prospective students and industry partners can reach TUM by phone or email for admissions and enquiries.
