Description
The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a government executive agency under the Ministry of Works responsible for the development and maintenance of Tanzania's trunk and regional road network. Established in 2000, it has its headquarters in Dodoma, the national capital, and regional managers' offices in every region of mainland Tanzania. TANROADS plans, designs, builds and maintains major roads and bridges, supervises contractors and consultants, and manages axle-load control through weighbridges to protect the road network. It also oversees major infrastructure projects such as highways, flyovers and large bridges, and it manages road reserves and road safety improvements along national roads. The agency works closely with the Roads Fund Board and development partners that finance road construction. Contractors, investors and the public can contact TANROADS headquarters by phone or email for project, tender and road-network enquiries.
