Description
Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) is a public university in Lusaka dedicated to the health sciences. Named after Zambia's third president, Levy Mwanawasa, it was established in the late 2010s, building on the long history of Chainama College of Health Sciences, which trained clinical officers and other health workers for decades. The university offers diplomas, bachelor's degrees and postgraduate programmes in medicine and surgery, clinical medicine, nursing and midwifery, public health, mental health and psychiatry, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, environmental health, physiotherapy and other allied health disciplines. LMMU works closely with the Ministry of Health and teaching hospitals, including Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital and Chainama Hills Hospital, to provide clinical training. Its graduates help address shortages of health professionals in Zambia's public health system. Prospective students and partners can contact the university by phone or email for admissions and enquiries.
