Description

Egerton University is Kenya's oldest institution of higher learning, tracing its history to an agricultural school founded in 1939 by Lord Maurice Egerton. Its main campus is in Njoro, about 25 kilometres from Nakuru, and it also runs a Nakuru Town campus. Egerton became a full public university in 1987 and remains best known for agriculture, animal science, veterinary medicine, food science and environmental studies. Today it also offers degrees in education, engineering, computer science, business, health sciences, law and the social sciences, from certificate to doctoral level. The large Njoro campus includes teaching farms, laboratories and research centres that work with farmers and agribusinesses across the Rift Valley. Students join through government placement or as self-sponsored applicants. For admissions, fees, accommodation and research enquiries, the university can be reached on its general phone line or by email.
