CAMTEL, Cameroon Telecommunications, is the state-owned national telecoms operator, created in 1998 and headquartered on Avenue de l'Indépendance in Yaoundé. It manages Cameroon's national fibre optic backbone and the landing stations for submarine cables that connect the country to the global internet, and it supplies wholesale capacity to other operators in Cameroon and neighbouring countries. For households and businesses, CAMTEL provides fixed telephone lines, fibre-to-the-home and other broadband internet services, and its Blue mobile brand offers voice and data. Large companies and public institutions use its enterprise connectivity, data centre and network services. The company runs commercial agencies in major towns, where customers can subscribe to services and pay bills. Business hours at its offices are Monday to Friday.
