Description

Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) is the government agency responsible for collecting taxes and customs duties in Botswana, with its head office on Plot 54379 in the Central Business District of Gaborone. Established in 2004 by merging the former Department of Taxes and Department of Customs and Excise, it administers income tax, pay-as-you-earn, value added tax, withholding taxes, customs duties and excise across the country, including at border posts such as Tlokweng, Ramatlabama and Kazungula. Taxpayers can register, file returns and pay through the BURS e-services platform, and the authority runs taxpayer education campaigns to encourage voluntary compliance. BURS also facilitates trade through customs procedures for importers, exporters and travellers. Individuals and businesses can reach BURS through its main phone lines or communications email for tax and customs enquiries.
