Description

Ethiopian Railways Corporation (ERC) is the state-owned enterprise responsible for building, owning and operating Ethiopia's railway network. Established in 2007, it leads the country's plans for a national network of standard-gauge lines that connect Addis Ababa with regional cities, industrial parks and the port of Djibouti. ERC is a joint owner of the electrified Addis Ababa–Djibouti railway, which carries freight and passengers between the capital and the sea, and it oversees the Addis Ababa Light Rail Transit, the first light rail system in sub-Saharan Africa. The corporation is also developing new lines such as the Awash–Weldia–Mekelle railway. Its head office is in Kirkos sub-city near Meshualekia in Addis Ababa. Businesses, travellers and partners can contact ERC by phone or email for information on services and projects.
