Mangosuthu University of Technology – University in Durban

Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) is a public university of technology located in Umlazi, south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal. It was founded in 1979 as Mangosuthu Technikon and became a university of technology in 2007 under South Africa's higher-education restructuring. MUT focuses on career-oriented, practical education and offers higher certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, bachelor's degrees and postgraduate qualifications through its faculties of Engineering, Management Sciences and Natural Sciences. Popular fields include civil, chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering, accounting, marketing, human resources, information technology, nature conservation, environmental health, nursing and community extension. The university works closely with industry through work-integrated learning and serves many students from the surrounding townships and rural KwaZulu-Natal.
