Description
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is Kenya's statutory social security scheme, headquartered at the NSSF Building on Bishops Road in Nairobi. Established in 1965, it collects mandatory pension contributions from employers and employees in the formal sector and also accepts voluntary contributions from self-employed and informal-sector workers. Under the NSSF Act of 2013, the Fund operates a pension scheme that provides retirement, invalidity, survivors' and other benefits to members. NSSF invests members' savings in government securities, equities, real estate and other assets, and it is one of the largest institutional investors in Kenya. Members can register, check statements and track contributions through online self-service portals and branch offices across the country. Employers, members and beneficiaries can contact NSSF's customer service team by phone or email for registration, contributions and benefit claims.
