Description
Samburu Sopa Lodge is a safari lodge inside the Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya, operated by Sopa Lodges. Built on high ground, it has panoramic views over the Samburu shrubland and the hills beyond. The architecture reflects the heritage of the local communities, whose sons and daughters make up most of the staff. Fifteen two-bedroom cottages are arranged in an arc around a waterhole, leaving a wide gap so animals can move freely to the water. Samburu is known for rare northern species such as Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and Beisa oryx, along with elephants, lions and leopards along the Ewaso Nyiro River. Facilities include a bar, lounge, restaurant, outdoor dining area, swimming pool and gift shop, and Wi-Fi is available in public areas. There are also wheelchair-accessible interconnecting rooms. The reserve can be reached by road or by air from Nairobi. Reservations can be made by phone or email.
