Description
KenGen (Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC) is Kenya's largest electricity producer, with its head office at KenGen Pension Plaza II on Kolobot Road in Parklands, Nairobi. It generates most of the electricity used in the country and sells it in bulk to Kenya Power for distribution. KenGen's power plants run on a mix of mostly renewable sources: hydroelectric stations along the Tana River cascade and Turkwel, geothermal plants at Olkaria in the Rift Valley, which make Kenya one of the world's leading geothermal producers, as well as wind and thermal plants. The company is majority-owned by the government and listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, and it also offers geothermal drilling and consulting services to other countries in the region. Suppliers, partners and the public can reach the head office by phone or email.
