Description

The Uganda Securities Exchange is the principal stock exchange in Uganda, licensed in 1997 and based in Kampala. It provides a regulated market where companies and the government raise capital by listing shares and bonds, and where investors buy and sell them through licensed brokers and dealers. Listed companies include major Ugandan businesses such as MTN Uganda, Stanbic Uganda, Bank of Baroda Uganda, Uganda Clays, Umeme in the past, and several cross-listed East African firms such as Kenya Airways, Equity and KCB. The exchange also trades government and corporate bonds and runs a growth market for smaller enterprises. It has introduced electronic trading and a central depository, and its Easy Invest app lets individuals open accounts and trade from their phones. The exchange runs investor education across the country. Investors, issuers and the public can contact it by phone or email.
