Maseno University – University in Maseno

Maseno University is a public university in western Kenya, with its main campus at Maseno, about 25 kilometres from Kisumu on the Kisumu-Busia road. The campus famously straddles the equator, and its roots go back to Maseno School, founded by missionaries in 1906. Maseno became a constituent college of Moi University in 1990 and a full university in 2001. It offers certificate, diploma, bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes in arts and social sciences, business and economics, education, computing and informatics, physical and biological sciences, agriculture and food security, environment and earth sciences, public health, medicine and nursing, development and strategic studies, and planning. Maseno also runs a city campus in Kisumu and an e-campus for online learning. Students join through government placement or as self-sponsored applicants.
