Nile Breweries Limited is Uganda's largest brewer and part of the global AB InBev group, with its head office on Port Bell Road in Kampala. Founded in 1951 at Jinja near the source of the River Nile, the company brews some of the country's best-known beers, including Nile Special, Club Pilsener and Eagle Lager, which was developed using locally grown sorghum. It runs breweries in Jinja and Mbarara and buys sorghum, barley and other raw materials from thousands of Ugandan farmers, supporting rural incomes. Nile Breweries also distributes international brands and invests in programmes on responsible drinking, road safety and water conservation.
