Description
The University of Zambia (UNZA) is Zambia's oldest and largest public university, founded in 1966 shortly after independence. Its main Great East Road Campus lies about nine kilometres from Lusaka city centre on around 290 hectares, while the Ridgeway Campus near the University Teaching Hospital houses the schools of health sciences, medicine, nursing and public health. UNZA offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes through schools such as agricultural sciences, education, engineering, humanities and social sciences, law, mines, natural sciences, veterinary medicine and business. It also runs distance and open learning, short courses and research centres that work with government, industry and international partners. The university admits thousands of Zambian and international students each year and publishes calls for applications, accommodation and academic dates on its website.
